Justified shooting or excessive force?

What do you think about the acquittal of three NYC detectives who fired 50 times at unarmed Sean Bell, killing him?

It's an outrage! Bell and his friends were unarmed and leaving the area. There is no justification.
The officers fired 50 times. Even if they had been justified, they clearly used excessive force.
The judge made the right decision. The officers had reason to believe they were armed and dangerous.
Police officers have a difficult, dangerous job. They always deserve the benefit of the doubt when they defend themselves.
That's it ... take the guns away. It works in Europe.
