The LNG debate After Weaver's Cove CEO Gordon Shearer's proposal for an off-shore LNG unloading station, how do you feel about the prospect of LNG in the SouthCoast? He made sense. This region does need better access to natural gas to keep electricity prices down, and the safety record of LNG is such that I can live with an unloading station in the Taunton River. Shearer is grasping at straws. He didn't say anything to convince me. Transporting LNG through Mount Hope Bay and the Taunton River puts residents in danger. There is too great a risk of accidents and terrorist attacks. Weaver's Cove needs to go away. There's been a lot of rhetoric and emotion on both sides. We need more concrete evidence about the need and safety of LNG before we can make a reasoned decision. View Result
