I agree that the problem here is not the residents of the sober house. The problem lies with the owner, being able to run a for profit business in a residential neighborhood wihout any prior approval and then hiding behind the term "disability"

If this house were to house people with ongoing cancer treaments, would you turn them away? Addiction is a disease and the people who are trying to get well should have as much of a chance as people with other illnesses.

"Am I not my brother's keeper?" Shame on those who don't want to allow people a place to recover from addiction. Medford should welcome recovery. Try putting your energies into helping, not hindering. After all, we're all in this together!

I do not believe this is an issue regarding recovering people. The issue is that the owner is allowed to open a for profit business in a neighborhood without any prior approval at all and then shout disability to keep his business in the red

I don't understand why people think they need to have cori records checked. I think if they need to get backround checks, everyone else in the neighborhood should too. Just because someone is an addict, it does not make them a criminal.

oversight is absolutely necessary for those in recovery...someone needs to ensure the safety of those who are working to rid themselves of their addictions. Too many are into these houses for profit only!

Medical research now verifies that addiction is a brain disease. Would you prohibit others with a disease a shared home in your community while they get back on their feet? There are already state agency restrictions for these homes to remain licensed.
